Popova Sapka is one of the oldest and largest ski resorts in Macedonia, dating back to 1947 and located on the slopes of one of the highest mountains in Macedonia, Shar Mountain. Located at an altitude of 1,800 m, it features a number of sunny days and snow cover suitable for quality freeride skiing from late November to April. The ski resort is quite attractive because Shar Mountain is characterized by many peaks with over 2,500 m above sea level.
Here is one of the highest peaks in Macedonia, Titov Vrv (2,748 m). The ski center has several ski lifts and chair lifts, the total length of which is around 14,000 m, with a capacity of up to 11,000 skiers per hour. The total length of the ski slopes is about 20 km, and the ski area extends over 35 square kilometres. The ski center is 65 km away from Skopje, and with a gondola in the length of 7 km it is connected through Tetovo, but it is currently out of use. The ski slopes are suitable for all levels of skiing, from beginners to professional freeride adventures. The center also has slopes according to FIS criteria, on which the International Sharplanin Cup in slalom and giantslalom are held every year. The attractiveness of the center is seen in the great opportunities for freeride skiing and snowboarding through the untouched wild landscapes located on both sides of the mountain.
